Yumi began to eat her food too. Once she was finished she sighed in satisfaction. “Oh boy, that hit the spot.” She moaned patting her tummy.
“Mhmm, I could go to sleep now.” He sighed, leaning on his palm. He loved taking naps after dinner, but he had many things to do. “Come on, we have to head back.”
“Okay.” She said following him out the door after paying their meal.
“What are we going to do now?” She asked looking at him.
Yumi just shrugged her shoulders and went inside behind Edward. They got seated and the waitress came to order their drinks.
Edward ordered the days special, along with a slice of pie for dessert. Once the food arrived, he began eating, licking his lips. It tasted delicious.
Yumi began to eat her food too. Once she was finished she sighed in satisfaction. “Oh boy, that hit the spot.” She moaned patting her tummy.
“You better or all those years looking up to you would be for nothing.” She smirked at him. “Now let’s get to the restaurant. You look hungry.” She replied giggling.
“Was it that obvious?” Edward asked sarcastically, before setting her down on their feet once they arrived. His cheeks were red from the stares they were getting, and he just glared at them all before walking into the restaurant. “Damn nosy people.”
Yumi just shrugged her shoulders and went inside behind Edward. They got seated and the waitress came to order their drinks.
“You may find it weird, but I always looked up to you when my mom told me about you back when I was 15. I’m now 19 and I just now get to meet you, and you being my teacher is a true honor.” She said with a small smile still holding onto him.
“I’m glad that you feel like that.” He said, smiling at her. “I’ll make sure to live up to your expectations.”
“You better or all those years looking up to you would be for nothing.” She smirked at him. “Now let’s get to the restaurant. You look hungry.” She replied giggling.
“Thank you.” She smiled and leaned down to kiss his cheek lightly as he walked.
His cheeks turned bright red, as he continued walking. “Y…yeah..” He grumbled.
“You know, you’re very strong.” She complimented as she held onto him. She was impressed with his fighting skills.
“I…ah…” Edward smiled shyly back at her. Was she…flirting with him? “Thanks?”

“Always be on guard, teacher. You never know what will happen.” She smirked wrapping her arms around his neck. “Could you give me a piggy back ride until we make it to the restaurant? Pretty please?” She begged. “I’ll pay for dinner.” She offered. She had some extra money on her so it was no big deal, just as long as she got what she wanted, it was all worth it in the end.
Jeez, what was with girls? They sure were strange. “Hm…” He was contemplating her offer. It was free food…Which was so so so tempting. “…Ah, you damn kids.” He sighed. “Alright, fine.” He hitched her up higher, getting a good grip on her before he began walking down the steps and out the building’s door.
“Thank you.” She smiled and leaned down to kiss his cheek lightly as he walked.
She giggled and got up as fast as she could and tackled Edward from behind and jumped on his back wrapping her legs around his waist.
“Oh, Hi Ed.” she giggled still on his back smirking.
“Woah there!” Edward gasped, managing to catch himself before he fell. What the hell was she trying to do, kill him?

“But, teacher! It’s so soft. Give me five more minutes.” She whined laying on her side smirking at him. She just loved pulling his leg.
“Then you stay here and starve, while I go get me something to eat.” He said, making his way to the door and out into the hallway. Ed showed no mercy when it came to his precious stomach’s needs.
She giggled and got up as fast as she could and tackled Edward from behind and jumped on his back wrapping her legs around his waist.
“Oh, Hi Ed.” she giggled still on his back smirking.
“Ah, finally I can put this crap down.” She sighed setting her suitcase aside and hopping on one of the beds that was in there. “Ohhh, so soft.” She moaned as she felt comfortable the moment she hit the bed.
Edward set his own things down, looking over at her. “Don’t get too comfortable, I’m starving.” He snorted, stomach grumbling loudly as if to justify his statement.
“But, teacher! It’s so soft. Give me five more minutes.” She whined laying on her side smirking at him. She just loved pulling his leg.
“Fine by me.” She mumbled getting up and popping her neck. The ground was very uncomfortable but she had to catch her breath. She got up and picked up her things. “We better go to a motel first though, I feel weird toting my stuff around like this.” She laughed nervously looking at him.
“Sounds like a plan.” Edward nodded, smiling at her before leading her to a near by motel. It was a decent looking place, and hopefully not too expensive. Now that Edward didn’t work for the military, he was just living off the money he had gained over the years.
“Ah, finally I can put this crap down.” She sighed setting her suitcase aside and hopping on one of the beds that was in there. “Ohhh, so soft.” She moaned as she felt comfortable the moment she hit the bed.
She sighed still not mad or anything. It surprised her, I guess her other personality was letting her fight without her getting involved. ‘You need to learn how to fight. That’s why I haven’t came out yet.’ A voice said in her head. ‘K-Kamon?’ she thought to herself. ‘Yup. Sorry, I’ve been quiet lately, it’s just you wanted to learn to fight right? Well, your getting your wish. I’m staying out of it unless its not the teacher your fighting.’ She heard Kamon say. She was surprised that Kamon was even letting her do this. ‘Well, thanks.’ She thought. ‘No problem. Just make sure you work your hardest.’ She heard her say. ‘I will. I’ll train to become stronger.’ She said, after she talked to her, Kamon’s voice wasn’t heard after that. “I’m getting kind of hungry.” She murmured still laying on the ground resting.
“Mm, me too.” Edward said, rubbing his neck. “I wonder if teacher made any food.” He mumbled, grabbing his clothes before walking inside to check. He spoke with her for a few minutes, before walking out. “I’ll visit soon!” He called out. He looked back down at Yumi, “we’ll have to go eat at a restaurant or something.”
“Fine by me.” She mumbled getting up and popping her neck. The ground was very uncomfortable but she had to catch her breath. She got up and picked up her things. “We better go to a motel first though, I feel weird toting my stuff around like this.” She laughed nervously looking at him.
“Heh. Not bad.” She replied as she took a breath and did what he told her and spreaded her feet wider apart.
Edward smiled at her, nodding in approval before continuing to assess her. She was flabby, and not exactly fit, but she wasn’t a lost cause either. He could work with her, she just needed practice. He constantly perfected her stances, and even allowed her to get a jab at him in spite of her, but he quickly made sure she knew he was the teacher.
Edward easily threw her over his head, tripped her, easily stole a punch or two, all with a smile on his face. Soon he stopped, covered in a thin sheet of sweat. “Good grief, I’m out of shape.” He sighed, rubbing his neck.
She continued to defend herself and counter when she needed to, and she kept her guard up, she didn’t get mad, she just got annoyed with his taunts. “Yeah, yeah don’t call me a kid. I’m older than you!” She yelled blocking him again.
“I highly doubt that, shorty!” He barked with laughter, flipping her over his head. He spread his legs apart, smirking as he watched her feet. “Spread your feet wider apart, and keep your hands closer together, you’re too open.” He instructed, running in and giving her a quick jab to the stomach before jumping back to avoid a punch in return.
“Heh. Not bad.” She replied as she took a breath and did what he told her and spreaded her feet wider apart.
Yumi stood up going back into defense. “Shut up and fight.” She said, her face becoming more serious.
“Now that’s more like it!” Edward grinned, running at her again, when she deflected, he swooped down, knocking her legs out of the way. When she went to counter attack, he did a backflip to avoid it, landing on his mixmatched feet. “Come on kid, keep up!” He mocked, smirking. He wanted to see how she did while fighting angry. Would she become messy or sloppy from the anger? Or would it influence her fighting?
She continued to defend herself and counter when she needed to, and she kept her guard up, she didn’t get mad, she just got annoyed with his taunts. “Yeah, yeah don’t call me a kid. I’m older than you!” She yelled blocking him again.
Yumi looked up and saw that he was shirtless, as she blushed lightly she nodded. and put her bags on the ground taking off her jacket. She had a black sleevless top on and looked at him. “What’s the first lesson, Teach?” She asked getting in a fighting stance.
“Defense.” He said getting into his own position, before running at her. He saw her get into the defense, and shifting his footing, cirling around her, and tripping her. He smirked, staring down at her, hands on his hips. “You’ll have to pay attention!~”
Yumi stood up going back into defense. “Shut up and fight.” She said, her face becoming more serious.
“Yes, I’ve been studying alchemy over two years by myself.” She told her.
Izumi nodded abit, glancing at Edward. It seemed they were in similar situations, despite the fact Edward and Alphonse came to her when they were around 8 or 7 years old.
“Oh, right, I need to talk to you.” Edward said suddenly. Izumi nodded, looking at Yumi. “You can go wait out front, I’ll allow Edward to assess you in the front yard when we’re done.”
“Alright.” Yumi smiled and did as she was told and waited outside on the front porch.
Once finished, Edward walked outside, removing his jacket. “Are you ready?” He asked, looking over at her as he also removed his shirt. He didn’t want to get them dirty with sweat.
Yumi looked up and saw that he was shirtless, as she blushed lightly she nodded. and put her bags on the ground taking off her jacket. She had a black sleevless top on and looked at him. “What’s the first lesson, Teach?” She asked getting in a fighting stance.

“Alright.” Yumi smiled and did as she was told and waited outside on the front porch.
“It’s very nice to meet you.” She said bowing her head at Izumi.
Izumi gave her a smile, “it’s nice to meet you too. How long have you been under Edward’s teachings?” She asked, hands on her hips.
“N-not long, we only met yesterday.”
“And you just decided that you’d bring her along?”
“Well, no! I’m going to evaluate her, I don’t have enough time to strand her on an island and wait.” He grumbled, lips pursed.
“Yes, I’ve been studying alchemy over two years by myself.” She told her.
Yumi sweatdropped and was now a little afraid but she didn’t show it, “H-hello, ma’am.” She said nervously as she waved.
Izumi looked at the girl and gave her a somewhat friendly smile. “Hello.” He glared at Edward, “Are you going to introduce me to your friend?”
“O-oh yeah! Uh, teacher, this is Yumi, she’s my student.” Edward laughed nervously.
“Student?” She raised a brow, looking back at Yumi. “But you can’t do alchemy.” She reminded him.
“Yeah, I know but…” He frowned. “I’ll be training her kind of like you trained me and Al, physically and mentally.” She paused, before giving Edward an approving nod.
“It’s very nice to meet you.” She said bowing her head at Izumi.
“Stop being so afraid, I’m sure she’s not THAT bad.” Yumi replied giggling at Edward’s nervousness.
“Y-you have obviously not met my teacher.” He whispered hastily to her, before opening the door to the back room.
Izumi Curtis was chopping up some kind of meat, most likely pork from the size of it. She stopped at hearing the door open, and glanced over her shoulder. Her eyes narrowed at seeing Edward.
“H-hi teac—” The knife she had been using whizzed past Edward’s head, missing his cheek by mere centimeters. “—her!” He squeaked.
Yumi sweatdropped and was now a little afraid but she didn’t show it, “H-hello, ma’am.” She said nervously as she waved.
“Oh, I see.” She smiled. She was ready for anything heading her way. She knew he was wanting to test her hard because he’s learned a lot by doing so.
Once they had reached the butcher shop, Edward began to panic. “M-Maybe we should come back another ti—” He turned around to leave, then heard the door opening and froze. He whirled around, seeing his teachers big, scary looking husband gazing down at him with his normal, stern gaze. “H-hey!” Edward said meekly. “Is ah, teacher around…?”
“She’s inside.” Sig said in a rough voice, his usual voice. Edward gulped and nodded, before leading Yumi in. “Good to see you, Edward.” Sig said, closing the door. “She’ll be happy to see you.
“I can only hope.” Edward deadpanned.
“Stop being so afraid, I’m sure she’s not THAT bad.” Yumi replied giggling at Edward’s nervousness.
“So, where are we going here?” Yumi asked as they both continued to walk beside each other.
“Visit an old friend,” He replied with a hint of nervousness. He certainly hoped it would be a pleasant visit. He would also get some tips from his teacher on how to test Yumi.
“Oh, I see.” She smiled. She was ready for anything heading her way. She knew he was wanting to test her hard because he’s learned a lot by doing so.
“M’m. Okay..” She said rubbing her eyes to wake herself as she grabbed her bag and got her suitcase as they headed out of the train.
Edward walked beside her, looking around the all too familiar town. A soft smile grew on his lips as he thought back to his younger years, when he himself was just a mere student.
“So, where are we going here?” Yumi asked as they both continued to walk beside each other.
Yumi watched the scenery pass by as she fell asleep against the window. She hardly had any sleep last night due to her other personality stealing most of her energy.
Soon they had arrived, and Edward shook Yumi awake. He felt bad for waking her up, but they needed to get off the train. “Yumi, we’re here. Let’s go.” He mumbled.
“M’m. Okay..” She said rubbing her eyes to wake herself as she grabbed her bag and got her suitcase as they headed out of the train.
“So, how long will it be till we reach Dublith?” She asked changing the subject.
“Soon, I think. We’re pretty close as it is.” Edward responded, before going back to his book. Soon enough, he was absorbed into it’s yellowed pages, and nothing around him existed anymore.
Yumi watched the scenery pass by as she fell asleep against the window. She hardly had any sleep last night due to her other personality stealing most of her energy.
Oh boy, usually when she fought, her other personality would take over. That would never end well. “Um… I-i hope she doesn’t come out during our spar.” She whispered to herself not knowing how loud she realized she said that.
“Hm…” Edward didn’t want that. Someone more experienced was fighting for her, and that was not fair at all. However, he was already planning if that happened.
“So, how long will it be till we reach Dublith?” She asked changing the subject.
“Oh, I see. Are we gonna spar then?” She asked putting her hand on her chin looking out the window. She was enjoying the scenery passing by them.
“Most likely, once we find a nice open field.” Edward hadn’t sparred with anyone in a while, he was looking forward to it.
Oh boy, usually when she fought, her other personality would take over. That would never end well. “Um… I-i hope she doesn’t come out during our spar.” She whispered to herself not knowing how loud she realized she said that.
She looked at him. “What’s the physical training supposed to be? Leave me on an island for a whole month?” She asked sarcastically as she giggled.
“No, we don’t have enough time to do that.” Ed said, flipping the page. “You’re lucky though, I had to do that when I was nine.” He snorted. “Just test you on your physical fitness, mostly.”

“Oh, I see. Are we gonna spar then?” She asked putting her hand on her chin looking out the window. She was enjoying the scenery passing by them.
After sketching Edward she began to shade the places that needed to be shaded. She enjoyed sketching other people on her free time and since he was borrowing her book. She had hoped that she wouldn’t sound stupid if he tested her because he knew a lot more than she did.
“You know, you’ll have to persuade me.” Edward said suddenly, flipping to the next page. “I said I would train you, but if you’re not worth my time, I won’t.” He glanced up at her. “I’ll need to test you physically, and on your knowledge of Alchemy.”

She looked at him. “What’s the physical training supposed to be? Leave me on an island for a whole month?” She asked sarcastically as she giggled.
“I see.” She replied looking out the window. She decided to get out her sketch pad out of her bag and began to sketch something.
Oh, that’s right! “That book, did you bring it?” Edward asked, looking over at her. He wanted to keep reading it.
Yumi looked up from her sketch and smiled, she got the book out of her bag and handing it to him. “It’d be silly if I didn’t bring it with me, you know?” She giggled as she continued to sketch. She smiled at the drawing, she was sketching Edward.
“Thanks,” Edward grinned, taking the book. Opening up to the page he left off on, he sat back and continued reading the rather interesting book. Soon after he would finish, he was going to test Yumi.

“Oh okay.” She said smiling as she went to get their tickets. She got them, and gave one to Edward. “Here.” She smiled handing it to him.
“Thanks,” Edward smiled at her, taking the ticket. This was going to be quite the adventure for the two of them. Edward boarded the train, sitting down in an empty booth. “Aaahh, it feels great to be back on a train.” He sighed.
She sat down in front of him. “So, I’m guessing you did this a lot in your life, huh?” Shea asked looking at him as the train began to move.
“Pretty much. I would be on a train almost everyday.” Edward said, relaxing back. “They’ve become like an old friend of mine.” He mumbled, looking out the window with a smile. They were on their way to the truth, and Edward couldn’t be more determined and ready for it.
“I see.” She replied looking out the window. She decided to get out her sketch pad out of her bag and began to sketch something.

“It feels good to be outside.” She told him, she was always moving to different towns until finally they decided to live here, she hadn’t left her home in over two years, so it felt good to go somewhere else for a change.
“Look! There’s the train station.” She told him as she grabbed his hand and started running toward the station.
“It sure does..” Edward mumbled, smiling small. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, it sure was a nice day.
“Gah!” Edward gasped, being dragged off by the raven haired girl. “I see it, I see it!” He managed to say, trying to catch his footing as he followed hre.
They made it to the station in mid time. “So, where we off to first?” she asked letting go of his hand.
They were still pretty close to the east, the closest city it seemed, was Dublith. “Dublith.” He muttered, smiling abit. Maybe he could pay his old alchemy teacher a nice visit.
“Oh okay.” She said smiling as she went to get their tickets. She got them, and gave one to Edward. “Here.” She smiled handing it to him.

Her hair began to blow lightly in the wind, she enjoyed the outdoors so much, she felt more free, now that she was traveling with her teacher she felt as there was going to be an adventure everyday. “The breeze feels nice today.” She smiled widely at the sky.
“I guess so.” Edward watched her prance around happily, wondering if she had ever even traveled before. He shrugged a bit to himself, if she hadn’t, she would have to overcome the intense home-sickness. After sitting on his butt for two years, Edward felt it from time to time. Like when he missed Winry’s cooking.
“It feels good to be outside.” She told him, she was always moving to different towns until finally they decided to live here, she hadn’t left her home in over two years, so it felt good to go somewhere else for a change.
“Look! There’s the train station.” She told him as she grabbed his hand and started running toward the station.
“This way.” She said trying to balance on the train tracks that she walked beside. “It’s not that far from here!” She yelled.
Edward followed her, smiling abit. It was quite satisfying to be back on the road, it made him feel so free. Even more so now that he wasn’t tied to the state like a leashed puppy anymore.

Her hair began to blow lightly in the wind, she enjoyed the outdoors so much, she felt more free, now that she was traveling with her teacher she felt as there was going to be an adventure everyday. “The breeze feels nice today.” She smiled widely at the sky.
Yumi stood up as fast as she could trying to get out of here before her mom would make sure they were engaged before they even left. She sighed as her mom walked up to her. “Mom, could you not try to hook me up with any man I bring home? It’s really embarrassing.” She asked looking at her mom. “Oh sweetie, we all know you two are gonna date. You’ll be spending a lot of time together, eventually one of you are gonna make the first move.” She whispered. Yumi sighed. “Mom, your gonna scare him away.” She whispered back to her. “No I’m not. Oh hush.” She said
After Yumi grabbed her suitcase bringing it down the stairs she looked at her mom with a sigh.
“Well, this is it.” She replied.
“Yumi, take care of yourself. Edward, please watch out for her.” She told them both. Yumi nodded.
“Mm, I will ma’am.” Edward said, nodding. It was only a partial lie, looking out for oneself was part of the training he was planning out for her. He began walking away, Yumi following suit after. He gave a sigh, before looking back at Yumi. “So…where’s the nearest train station?” He asked, laughing nervously. He hadn’t a clue where he even was.

“This way.” She said trying to balance on the train tracks that she walked beside. “It’s not that far from here!” She yelled.
“You say that now, but watch a mother knows everything, you two will fall madly in love with each other.” She said drinking her coffee as if it was normal to say something like that to a boy she just met. Yumi was hiding her face in embarrassment. Even if she had a chance with him she was screwed now because her mom had to but into her love life once again. This was why she never brought her guy friends home.
“Mmm…” Edward stared down at his food. Being a traveler, he did not stop to hit on women, or men. He was a man of science, and his relationship status was void as of forever. Just because his alchemy was taken away, does not mean he wanted to settle down and start a family for him to abandon on his journey for knowledge. “Well, we have to get going.” He sighed.

“Well, this is it.” She replied.
“Yumi, take care of yourself. Edward, please watch out for her.” She told them both. Yumi nodded.
“That’s good,” She smiled looking at Yumi then back at Edward. “I sense that you two might end up as more than friends in the future. Then I can call you my son.” She said with smirk on her face. Yumi had ate some eggs as she said that she started choking on her food blushing madly. “M-mom!” She yelled blushing in embarrassment. She knew this was coming, she just knew it but she didn’t expect it to be THIS soon.
What was wrong with this woman! He didn’t date students! Besides, he was probably a year or two older then Yumi, that was just strange. “A-aha, g-good one.” Ed choked, hitting his chest to help his coughing. “I-I don’t date students.” He deadpanned.
Yumi and her mother finished hugging as Yumi sat down beside Edward and made her plate as her mom sat in front of them. “So, Edward. Got anyone special waiting on you back home?” Her mom asked looking at Edward with curiosity. She was seeing if her daughter had any chance with the Former Alchemist in the future. He’d seemed like he’d make a good husband someday.
“W-Wha—!” His cheeks brightened, and his eyes widened. Sure, Winry was pretty and all, but he didn’t really…think they would work out, with his constant traveling. “N-no…I uh…don’t.” He said sheepishly, cheeks still red.
Yumi looked at the boy with the softest smile and giggled. “Yeah, mom is a real good cook.” Yumi replied looking at her mom as she put the plates on the table.
“Oh, I’m not as good as your grandma, Yumi.” She replied blushing as she put some eggs on the table, with toast, bacon and jam.
“But, grandma taught you so that makes you just as good as her.” Yumi said patting her mom on the back.
“Aw, seriously Yumi, why are you kissing up to me all of a sudden?” She asked giggling at her daughter.
“I’m not kissing up to you, I’m just being honest. This might be the last meal you cook for me for a long time, I just wanna enjoy it with you.” She smiled widely at her mother. She was blessed to have such an amazing mother like her, she wasn’t going to waste anytime with her, she was gonna spend as much time as she could with her.
Her mother smiled widely and putting the last plate on the table, then went to hug Yumi in her arms. “I’m blessed to have a daughter like you, Yumi.” Her mom said closing her eyes and holding Yumi close to her. “I’m the one who should be saying that mom. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me.” She whispered back as they held each other.
Edward just ate silently, letting them have their moment. As he ate, he wondered how his mother would be if she was still alive. Would she be like Yumi’s mother? His eyes softened at her memory. She really was an amazing mother…kind…loving…She was always there for Edward and Alphonse, until her last breath. However, wasn’t every mother supposed to be like that?
Yumi and her mother finished hugging as Yumi sat down beside Edward and made her plate as her mom sat in front of them. “So, Edward. Got anyone special waiting on you back home?” Her mom asked looking at Edward with curiosity. She was seeing if her daughter had any chance with the Former Alchemist in the future.
